In Hospitality we all made our own pizzas with our own ingredients, after handing in a food order with a list of all of the ingredients we wanted. The meal needed to be a balanced meal, so I made a prawn pizza with ricotta cheese and lots of herbs and vegetables.
I began making my pizza by spreading tomato paste evenly around the base, and then by adding the ricotta cheese, as it is a lighter cheese, and healthier than if I used mozzarella. Then in a separate bowl I prepared the prawns, where I placed the prawns, and then added crushed garlic, chilli flakes, and some parsley. After combining these all together, I added the praws onto the pizza, and started on preparing all of the other ingredients that I wanted to put on my pizza to make it a balanced meal.
I cut a quarter of a tomato into thin slices, and placed them evenly around the pizza. I then finely chopped up some parsley to put on the pizza and scattered some more chilli flakes so that it had a nice bitey taste. After doing this I added a bit of mozzarella cheese to keep all of the ingredients together. Once I put it in the oven, I cleaned up the bench along with everyone else in the bench, although after 15 minutes I checked my pizza hoping it would be ready, but they had barely cooked! Since the people on the other side of the bench had finished, I used their oven to put my pizza in and cook it. Even though it went into the next lesson, I ended up getting my pizza cooked, and I had been hoping to add some rocket leaves and some thyme on the top, although Georgia accidentally threw them out, so therefore I wasnt able to make my presentation look as good as I hoped.
The pizza ended up tasting delicious and I will definitely make it again in the future!

Making Choc Chip Cookies
This week in Hospitaliy, we made the best choc chip cookies I have ever tasted! Mrs Baker was away, so we were lucky enough to still do a prac, as we had Mrs King as a substitute. Once we all got to class, we got straight into work, and Mrs King had an example of what the mixture needed to look like up on the bench. So we needed to stick to the recipe and hope that it turned out right.
I was partnered with Tegan, and at first, while she got all of the ingredients together, I got the ingredients that required measuring ready, that were already on the bench tops, like the sugar and flour.
We then put the caster sugar and brown sugar into a bowl, as well as the butter which we had cut into small pieces. Then we used the beater to blend them together, although when we first turned it on, sugar sprayed EVERYWHERE and we had to try and use a spoon just to blend the butter into the sugar a bit more before we started blending. I believe this happened as a result of the butter not being soft enough, and not blending with the sugar at first. Eventually we created the right mixture, and began to add the flour bit by bit, which also didn't work at first, until it had been mixed for a while, and then it all came together, instead of separating.
Then we threw in all of the choc bits, and mixed them through with a wooden spoon, which was a bit hard at first, but then I got the hang of it. We wanted all the choc bits to be spread out evenly throughout the whole mixture.
Then we put the mixture on the trays by hand, into nice, round, even shapes. While we were waiting for them to cook, everyone in our bay helped clean up really fast, and by the time the cookies were ready, we just left them out for a bit, separated them from each other, put them in their package, and ate up.
I will most definitely be using this recipe at home, and make these cookies all the time!

Making Scones
Yesterday in Hospitality class, we made scones which ended up tasting delicious! I was partners with Issy and we were very exited to get started, although Issy wasn't able to eat them properly as she had just gotten braces, and therefore her teeth were hurting.
After we watched Ms Baker give the demonstration, we were able to go into our stations and get started.
Firstly, Issy and I got 2 cups of self-raising flour, and put it in a bowl. Then I got the milk and was just about to pour it into the same bowl when Issy stopped me, and reminded me that the butter had to go in first, and be rubbed into the flour. So then we did just that, and I rubbed the butter into one side of the bowl while Issy did the other. Once the butter and flour were mixed together properly, we made a well in the center for where we would pour the milk in. But this time we double checked to make sure it was the correct timet o do this step. When we poured in 1 cup of milk, and mixed it through with a knife, we found that the mixture was still a bit too dry and needed more milk. So we added a little bit extra.
Then I got the mixture/dough out of the bowl and placed it on the flour-covered bench. As I started to knead it in the way that Mrs Baker had instructed us to, it began to take shape, and form into one piece. After Issy had a go at kneading it, we began to roll it out, although once we rolled it out and began to cut it with the cutters, we realised that it was still too thick. So then we rolled it out more, and then cutted them all up. Issy then brushed milk on the top of each piece and we put them into the oven to cook.
While they were cooking, everyone in our bay worked hard to get the area clean, and then we went on to check on the scones.
Once they were ready, we cut them in half, spread on some rasberry jam and cream, sandwiched it up, and ate it.
They were very delicious, and I couldnt wait to eat them.
Overall it was a great experience to cook with Issy, and I will most definitely take this recipe home with me to cook again and again.

Making Macaroni Cheese
Today in Hospitality & Services, I was partnered with Georgia, and we made a delicious macaroni and cheese meal.
Once we had collected all of the ingredients, and turned on the stove, I began to make the white sauce while Georgia kept an eye on the macaroni pasta that was being cooked in water on the stove. While I was making the white sauce, I melted the butter, and then poured in the flour and continued to mix. Although I forgot to hold the pan off the stove so within seconds, the sauce had turned brown and gluggy. Therefore Georgia and I tipped out the 'brown' sauce and started again, and this time, the white sauce turned out much better.
Once the cheese had been added to the sauce and mixed well, the pasta was ready. So we drained out the water and added the white sauce, and mixed it through. Then we evenly poured the macaroni and cheese into our containers and sprinkled on some more cheese and parsley.
The group of us in our bay were very efficient, and we were able to clean up quickly and then dig into our successful meal.
It turned out to be delicious, and I can't wait to make it again at home after what I learnt today in class. It was very enjoyable to cook today with Georgia, and increased my love of Hospitality class, and cooking.
